During the Connectivity Standards Alliance member meeting in Seoul, LG Electronics presented its vision for the ThinQ smart home platform, a platform brand that aims to enhance the efficiency of home appliances and consumer electronics through smart technology.
LG’s Vice President of Platform Business Center, Jung Ki-hyun, outlined the three core values of ThinQ: advancement, connectivity, and openness. With ThinQ, users can connect LG home appliances to the Internet of Things and other smart devices enabled by Matter, a communication standard for smart home technologies.
LG plans to equip AI chatbot services and AI-based voice recognition technology to ThinQ, as well as support virtual assistant software platforms such as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. As part of its open innovation strategy, LG hopes to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by AI and IoT connectivity.
The Connectivity Standards Alliance is an organization that promotes collaboration in IoT by developing universal open standards, with a focus on the standardization of Matter. LG was joined by 134 members from around the world, including Apple, Amazon, and Google, at this year’s event.
Jung Ki-hyun, who attended the event as a keynote speaker, emphasized that LG ThinQ will be a partner that creates a smart environment tailored to the lifestyle of consumers, whether they are at home, at work, or on vacation.
With the growing trend towards artificial intelligence-based service releases, LG’s plan to incorporate AI technology into ThinQ is a timely move. This will enable ThinQ to learn from users’ preferences and behaviors and provide personalized recommendations to enhance their smart home experience.
LG’s commitment to openness is also noteworthy. By providing support for virtual assistant software platforms such as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, LG aims to create a seamless experience for consumers who may use different platforms for different purposes. This approach ensures that ThinQ remains inclusive and user-friendly across different demographics.
With its innovative vision and commitment to advancing IoT technology, LG is well-positioned to lead the way in the age of ambient computing. By leveraging AI and IoT connectivity, LG ThinQ will continue to provide a unique and personalized smart home experience for its users.
