Meta, formerly known as Facebook, announced on Tuesday that it will be launching a commercial version of its open-source artificial intelligence (AI) model called Llama. The upgraded version of the model, known as Llama 2, will be distributed through Microsoft’s Azure cloud service and will be compatible with the Windows operating system. In addition to Azure, Llama 2 will also be available for direct download and through other providers such as Amazon Web Services and Hugging Face.

The original Llama model was already competitive with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard chatbot. Google plans to make Claude and other models available to its cloud customers as well.
