Apple Inc. (AAPL.O) has responded to customer complaints regarding overheating issues with its latest iPhone models, acknowledging a combination of factors contributing to the problem. In a statement released on Saturday, the tech giant assured users that the issue is neither a safety concern nor a long-term performance problem.

The primary culprit behind the excessive heat, according to Apple, is a bug in the iOS 17 software. The company has promised a swift resolution to this issue with an upcoming software update, although it emphasized that this fix will not impact the device’s overall performance.

Additionally, Apple revealed that some third-party apps have been exacerbating the overheating problem by overloading the system. Notable apps mentioned include the game Asphalt 9, Meta’s Instagram, and Uber. However, Instagram has already addressed the issue with an update released on September 27th. Apple has assured users that it is collaborating with other app developers to implement fixes for this problem, which will be rolled out soon.

Apple further explained that the warmth experienced by users in the first few days of setting up or restoring their device is due to increased background activity. This is a normal occurrence and should not be a cause for concern.

Remarkably, Apple pointed out that its iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models do not suffer from overheating issues due to their innovative design. The incorporation of titanium shells in these models has significantly improved heat dissipation compared to previous stainless steel versions.
