Samsung Display has secured a deal to supply organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels for Ferrari’s next generation of cars, according to an announcement made by the South Korean display maker on Tuesday. The agreement will see Samsung Display collaborate with the Italian luxury automaker to develop display solutions that meet the Ferrari standard for a more elevated client experience.

Samsung Display CEO Choi Joo-sun and Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna signed the deal in a ceremony held at Samsung’s Asan Campus in Gyeonggi Province. Choi said Samsung’s “extensive expertise in OLED technology” would enable the company to introduce cutting-edge display solutions that meet Ferrari’s requirements, while Vigna welcomed the partnership as a way to make “a significant step forward in the digital environment of our next-generation models”.

Samsung Display supplies OLED panels to other automakers, including Hyundai and Audi, and is actively targeting the automotive display market. At the CES 2023 event held in January, Samsung Display unveiled its New Digital Cockpit with a 34-inch slim bezel display and bendable technology that creates a 700R curvature during driving mode. The low power consumption of OLEDs also offers greater benefits for improving a car’s efficiency and sustainability.
